Kathy Pate studied graphic design and painting at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and continued her education at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and Cal Poly Pomona. She then completed her MFA in Illustration at California State University in Fullerton. Working primarily in watercolors, one of the characteristics of Kathy’s style are the bright, vivid colors so typically found in her subjects.

Her clients include Santa Anita Race Track, Hollywood Park Turf Club, NTRA, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Lone Star Park in Texas, Bay Meadows Race Track, as well as private commission work. Kathy’s artwork has been featured on Channel 7 News, Equine Images magazine, The Blood Horse racing magazine, cover for The Horse Player Magazine Nov./Dec. 2003 Issue, and on Del Mar’s program covers (1998, 2002, 2003 & 2006).
